The Next Coronavirus War

This has been a national crisis of unanswerables. How little we know was made clear in an anecdote passed on during the past stay-at-home weekend about a young friend who works in an elder-care facility in the Midwest. My friend was visiting with an isolated resident, a lady of 100, and asked her view of the crisis compared with others she had experienced. “I was a nurse in World War II,” the centenarian replied, “and we knew exactly what we were doing and why. What makes this so different is the constant uncertainty.” It’s nice to know the wisdom of age still lives.
