How to MacGyver a Bar-Quality Cocktail at Home

A FEW YEARS AGO, I wrote a book called “Road Soda.” The concept: How to make cocktails in airplanes, trains, hotel rooms or anywhere that access to fancy tools and ingredients might be limited. I was amazed by the hacks well-traveled bartenders shared, also known as MacGyvering, in homage to the TV hero famed for finding ways to defuse a bomb or otherwise save the day using little more than, say, a pocketknife and a paper clip.
