The GOP Shouldn’t Use My Platform Again

You’d think I’d be pleased the Republican National Committee voted to campaign on the election platform I drafted, but there’s one problem: I wrote it in 2016.

In drafting eight of the GOP’s last nine platforms, I often heard annoyance with the process from the party’s establishment and campaign consultants. “We shouldn’t even have a platform,” one of the country’s highest-ranking Republicans told me a few years back. “They’re nothing but trouble.”
