Hong Kong Publishes Beijing Security Law Aimed at Crushing Protests

HONG KONG—Hours after Beijing passed a new national-security law for Hong Kong, the city’s government published the complete document for the first time late Tuesday, revealing the full scope of legislation that imposes penalties up to life imprisonment.

The law was released publicly about an hour before midnight Tuesday, officially putting it in effect just before Hong Kong marked the 23rd anniversary of its return to Chinese control on Wednesday.
